Mabini Hall - Access to Justice

I thank my good friend Alexander Lacson for inspiring to start this post on ten things a government official should do for his country. His being in public office is reason enough. However, to be reminded is not such a bad thing.

1. Be on time.

2. Observe the Golden Rule. Imagine if you were the one who was waiting for the documents to be signed.

3. Live simply. There is no antidote to temptation than to cut down on wants and focus on basic needs.

4. Work hard. You owe it the taxpayers and everyone else specially yourself.

5. Take breaks. Get away sometime. The bureaucracy can drive you crazy.

6. Engage in a hobby. This focuses and channels your energy.

7. Pray. There is no greater weapon or shield.

8. Study and teach. The academic setting gives a sense of perspective to the daily operational chaos in the workplace. Teaching is one of the best ways to give back. (And you don’t and can’t do it for the money. )

9.”Band”. Look for and cultivate like-minded individuals specially those also in government. There is strength and solace in numbers even small ones.
