We have a rotten land titling system to think that land is our first and foremost national asset. Thus our real properties are prone to fraud and the level of protection for legitimate owners is low. There is also the problem of multiple agencies involved - Land Registration Authority, DENR, DAR, DA and the local government units.
On a related note - we cry for a national land use policy to rationalize and to economize.
Tons of cases involving land disputes clog our cases. The solution is to engage technology to map and to consolidate and to make proof of land ownership tamper proof and most importantly - fire proof! But the first step is always the people who run the system.

so true! my granpa had a problem with his land property last year because a relative of ours forged her name into the deed stating that the land was sold to her by my granpa’s father last 2001! but how could that be? my great grandfather is already 7 years dead that year.. who signed it? his ghost?
we tried diplomatic procedures so we don’t have to go to the court and wait for like what? 10 years?
thank God it turned out well.
